How 8 SIGNAL’s Fractional CMO Leadership Unified Carolina Services Group Under One Brand, Built Seven Websites, Infused strategy, and Positioned a North Carolina Moving Company for Scalable Growth

Blog Outline

Overview

Carolina Services Group, a family of moving, storage, and records management companies serving North Carolina, partners with 8 SIGNAL for dedicated marketing leadership. As Carolina Services’ Fractional CMO, we provide the executive-level guidance necessary to build a unified brand, establish digital infrastructure, and create the marketing systems required to scale across multiple locations and service lines.

When the engagement began in early 2025, Carolina Services operated five separate moving companies under five disconnected identities—with no parent brand, no marketing strategy, no cohesive digital presence, and no systems in place to generate or track leads. Our collaboration has transformed the company from a collection of independent operators into a unified brand with seven purpose-built websites, a comprehensive logo suite for every location, branded marketing collateral, and structured weekly accountability through Level 10 meetings.

Today, we continue to build on this foundation—launching SEO campaigns, rolling out content marketing, building performance scorecards, and positioning Carolina Services Group to capture market share across Fayetteville, Wilmington, Jacksonville, New Bern, and beyond as we enter peak moving season in 2026.

Client Background

Carolina Services Group is a North Carolina-based parent company uniting a family of trusted moving, storage, and records management businesses with over 75 years of combined experience. The group includes Fidelity Moving and Storage (Fayetteville and New Bern), Patterson Storage Warehouse (Fayetteville), Murray Transfer and Storage (Wilmington and Jacksonville), Atlantic Moving Systems, and Troy Humphrey Moving and Storage. They also operate Patterson Record Storage & Shredding, serving commercial clients with secure document management. As agents for Mayflower and United Van Lines, these companies specialize in residential, commercial, and military relocations. Led by Thomas Kiser and Heather Turlington, Carolina Services Group works with 8 SIGNAL to bring strategic marketing leadership to an organization that had the operational expertise and local reputation to grow, but lacked the brand identity and marketing infrastructure to make it happen.

The Challenge

Before 8 SIGNAL, Carolina Services had a fundamental identity problem. Five moving companies operated across North Carolina under five separate names, with no parent brand connecting them and no unified story for the market. There was no “Carolina Services Group”—just individual operators without a shared identity or strategic direction.

The marketing gaps reached into every area of the company at each location. Existing websites were outdated and weren’t converting visitors into leads. Google reviews were sparse with no plan in place to grow, and there were no marketing materials, no brand standards, no email signatures, no sales collateral, nothing that said “we’re one company, and we’re serious.” Social media was non-existent. There was no system in place to launch any type of marketing campaign, and no one in the organization leading that charge.

Leadership needed more than a vendor to build a website. They needed someone to sit in the driver’s seat to direct the efforts to create the brand from the ground up, build the digital infrastructure, and provide the ongoing accountability of a CMO without the six-figure salary.

The Solution: Ongoing Fractional CMO Leadership

8 SIGNAL serves as Carolina Services Group’s Fractional CMO, providing the high-level leadership required to build a marketing foundation from scratch and scale it across the entire organization. This is an active, ongoing partnership designed for long-term accountability—not a one-time rebrand.

Complete Brand Unification. We have created the Carolina Services Group brand from the ground up—naming the parent company, developing the “Group of Companies” positioning, and crafting the tagline “Moving What Matters.” We have designed and delivered a comprehensive suite of logos for every brand in the family: Carolina Services Group, Fidelity Moving and Storage, Patterson Storage Warehouse, Murray Transfer and Storage, Atlantic Moving Systems, Troy Humphrey Moving and Storage, and Patterson Record Storage & Shredding. Each logo maintains a distinct local identity while clearly belonging to the Carolina Services family. A full brand standards guide ensures consistency across every touchpoint.

Digital Infrastructure Build-Out.

We have built seven websites across the Carolina Services portfolio—one parent site (carolinaservicesgroup.com) and five location-specific sites for each operating company, plus a dedicated site for Patterson Record Storage & Shredding. Each site is designed for conversion, with clear calls to action, service-specific content, and consistent branding that reinforces the group’s professional identity. We manage ongoing updates and optimizations to keep the sites performing as lead generation tools.

Marketing Collateral and Brand Assets.

Beyond digital, we have built a full library of professional marketing materials: branded trifold brochures for direct mail and sales use, business cards for team members across all locations, professional letterhead, Review campaign materials, vehicle wrap designs, and HTML email signatures. These assets didn’t exist before the engagement. Today, the team has everything they need to present a polished, unified image in every customer and partner interaction.

Review Generation and Online Presence.

We have launched a structured review campaign to build Google review volume—a critical asset in the moving industry where trust drives purchasing decisions. We have also initiated Carolina Services’ presence on LinkedIn and Meta, establishing the social foundation needed for ongoing content distribution and brand awareness across North Carolina.

Structured Leadership and Accountability.

We lead weekly Level 10 meetings with clear agendas, deliverables, and accountability to keep the marketing strategy moving forward at pace. This EOS-aligned structure ensures that leadership and marketing stay aligned, priorities are clear, and nothing falls through the cracks—even across a multi-location organization.

SEO Strategy and Content Foundation.

We have identified the strongest brand within the portfolio to anchor the initial SEO campaign, and we are building the content marketing strategy to support it. An editorial calendar is in development, content strategy frameworks are being established, and the SEO campaign is preparing to launch—designed to drive organic visibility and high-intent traffic across the company’s key North Carolina markets.

Results & Current Momentum

In just over a year, the partnership has delivered a complete transformation in how Carolina Services Group goes to market. A company that had no parent brand now operates under a unified identity with a professional logo suite spanning seven brands. An organization with no web presence now has seven custom-built, conversion-focused websites live and serving customers across North Carolina. A team with no marketing materials now has branded collateral—trifold brochures, business cards, letterhead, and email signatures—ready for every location and every team member.

The foundation is now in place, and the next phase is about acceleration. As we move through 2026, we are building out the performance scorecard to track growth metrics, launching the SEO campaign to drive organic visibility in Fayetteville, Wilmington, Jacksonville, and New Bern, and rolling out a content marketing program designed to establish Carolina Services as a thought leader in the North Carolina moving market. The goal is to maximize the upcoming peak moving season with the brand infrastructure, digital presence, and marketing systems to capture every opportunity.

Conclusion

By providing true CMO-level leadership, 8 SIGNAL equips Carolina Services Group with the strategic thinking, brand development, and weekly accountability needed to go from a disconnected collection of moving companies to a unified, market-ready organization. What began as an effort to create a cohesive brand has evolved into a comprehensive marketing infrastructure serving residential, commercial, and military moving, storage, and records management across North Carolina. Today, Carolina Services Group operates with a marketing foundation built for the growth ahead—seven websites, a professional brand presence, structured leadership, and the strategic roadmap to turn infrastructure into pipeline. The brand is built. The systems are in place. Now it’s time to drive results, and 8 SIGNAL is in the driver’s seat.
